Christmas Ships Parade, Portland Oregon
Lighting up the Willamette and Columbia Rivers each December, the Christmas Ships Parade is the longest continuously operating illuminated boat parade in the US. Spanning 15 nights from Sunday 21 December and traversing more than 80 miles of shoreline, the parade offers spectacular viewing from waterfront hotels, restaurants, parks, and dedicated river cruises. It’s one of only 28 Oregon Heritage Traditions and remains entirely community-driven, with local boat owners covering their own costs to keep the magic alive. Its free to watch and perfect festive activity for families.
