Common Questions …

Full Vaccination Required to Enter the USA

The United States requires that foreign visitors over the age of 18 are fully vaccinated with a vaccine that is approved by the US CDC. See here for a list of approved vaccines and for definitions for full vaccination.

Please note that there is no requirement to have booster shots and no time limit on when you were vaccinated.  You must have certified proof of vaccination to travel, such as the HSE issued EU Digital COVID certificate.

Children under the age of 18 are exempted from the requirement to be fully vaccinated. Click here for more information.

There are some limited exemptions to the requirement for adults to be fully vaccinated for medical reasons.

Click here for more information on the vaccine related entry requirements.

Passport Validity

Irish passport holders are not required to have 6 months validity on their passports to visit the USA, when travelling on an ESTA. However, the passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay.
