Tickets are now available for a new twice-daily Amtrak Mardi Gras Service, launching 18 August 2025, reconnecting Mobile with New Orleans by passenger rail for the first time in nearly 20 years.
From the genteelness of Mobile to the bustle of New Orleans, in-between these two cities renowned for the Mardi Gras celebrations, soak up the sun on white sandy beaches, savour fresh seafood and explore the aquatic and historical attractions in Pascagoula, Biloxi, Gulfport and Bay Saint Louis.
With two daily round trips, the service offers morning and evening departures and provides a scenic, comfortable alternative for travellers. Fares start at just $15 one-way, with discounts available for children, seniors, military, and groups.
Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson welcomed the news, saying, “Mobilians have looked forward to the return of passenger rail for years. The Amtrak Mardi Gras Service promises not just convenience, but connection.”
