BOATHOUSE DISTRICT SCHEDULED TO OPEN ON MAY 7,2016

Coming out strongly in a recent Chicago Tribune feature – ‘5 new attractions that promise to deliver big thrills, great views’ – is Oklahoma City’s spectacular Boathouse District, which is nearing completion, with its $45 million Riversport Rapids aquatic centre scheduled to open on May 7.

The facility was designed by the same team that developed an aquatics centre for the 2012 London Olympics, and the 11 acre site will offer Class 11 to IV rapids in a 1,000 foot channel for whitewater rafting, kayaking and canoeing … and if this new Olympic training facility is too feisty for some watersports fans, such as families and beginners, they will be able to enjoy an additional, slower and gentler 1,300 foot water channel!
