Industry entrepreneur Greg Rochna had a vision to create a company that would provide a true VIP-level experience not previously offered in the helicopter industry. In December of 1995, he did just that by launching Maverick Helicopters in the tourism capital of the world, Las Vegas — a destination known for high rollers and over-the-top service. Greg and his wife, Brenda launched Maverick Helicopters with a mission to provide the finest level of service as expected by the VIP guests of the resorts and hotels in the City of Entertainment. Their efforts have been realized with the support of many including past guests, the hospitality industry and dedicated team members.
The Las Vegas operation started modestly with one aircraft and a committed team of flight personnel. Today, nearly 20 years later, Maverick Helicopters operates the largest and youngest fleet of ECO-Star helicopters in the world with over 40 helicopters. Maverick Helicopters has grown exponentially over the past 10 years to include four bases of operation located on the Las Vegas Strip (McCarran), Henderson Executive Airport, Grand Canyon South Rim and Grand Canyon West Rim.
In addition to the helicopter operations, Maverick Airlines was formed in 2008 and currently operates 6 fixed-winged aircraft to the Grand Canyon and is available for charter flights. In 2009, Mustang Helicopters was launched to provide flights departing from the Henderson Executive Airport to the Grand Canyon.
In 2015, Maverick Helicopters will open its first location outside of the Southwest United States. Maui, Hawaii will become the 5th permanent location for Maverick Aviation Group.
Maverick Helicopters’ excursions are a world apart from the competition as the Rocha’s refuse to operate in the formula used by the competition. Maverick Helicopters’ pilots personally greet every passenger and give a flight orientation prior to boarding. Passengers experience personal narration during each flight over voice-activated headsets, the flight is designed to be interactive between the guests and the pilot. Maverick was founded on the principle of providing the best experience possible.
Maverick Helicopters’ commitment to excellence in service is only matched by its commitment to safety. The company’s safety record is among the best in the world. Greg Rochna, a former pilot himself knows the importance of maintenance quality and is hands on in defining Maverick’s operational safety standards to exceed industry standards. Furthermore, Maverick Helicopters has received the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) most prestigious honor for maintenance, the Award of Excellence “Diamond Award.” This achievement signifies the company’s ongoing dedication to maintenance training and aircraft safety.
Maverick Helicopters has received an array of travel industry accolades and is the only company in the world to twice be named to the Travel Channel’s “Top 10 Best Helicopter Thrills in the World.” Maverick Helicopters has been involved with numerous filming projects including the Travel Channel, Fox, Golf Channel, NBC, ABC, CBS, E!, Food Network, Discovery Channel and DreamWorks. In 2014, Maverick was awarded the Best of Las Vegas award by the Las Vegas Review Journal, the Best of Nevada Award by Nevada Magazine and also was awarded the prestigious Southern Nevada Hotel Concierge Association’s Best Tour Company award for the fourth consecutive year.
VIP service, the finest equipment and pilots, the highest safety standards, and unique excursions make Maverick Helicopters the industry leader.
