Zika Virus in USA: Current Travel Safety Information

The Zika virus is a disease which primarily spreads to people through mosquito bites.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have issued reports that indicate Zika virus may be linked to serious birth defects in babies of mothers who were infected with this virus while being pregnant.

It is recommendable that women who are pregnant and/or couples thinking about becoming pregnant avoid unnecessary travels to areas in:


  • Miami-Dade County, Florida (including a 0.5-square-mile section of Wynwood, FL) and
  • a part of Miami Beach, FL
