Pittsburgh: Summer in the City of Multitudes
Each weekend brings a new reason to visit Pittsburgh this summer thanks to the diverse lineup of festivals and events taking place across the region. Plus, most are free to attend.
- A must-visit for foodies, Picklesburgh is a culinary celebration that holds the dill pickle high above the rest. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year from 11-13 July, local restaurants and budding chefs set up pop-up stalls selling all things pickled, from artisan cocktails to deep fried pickles on a stick and pickle-flavoured oreos. The festival also includes live music, how-to demos, author talks and pickled merch.
- For motor enthusiasts, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is the nation’s largest vintage street race, featuring 10 days of racing, car shows, parties, and motorsport events. The event culminates with vintage racing in Schenley Park on July 19–20, showcasing classic cars navigating the challenging city streets.
- Recognised as the #1 Brew Fest in America, Barrel & Flow Fest celebrates Black arts and brewing culture on the 9 August. Held at The Stacks at 3 Crossings, the festival features exclusive beer collaborations, live music, art installations, and a curated vendor marketplace.
- Bloomfield’s Liberty Avenue transforms into a vibrant celebration of Italian heritage during Little Italy Days. The festival offers authentic Italian cuisine, live music across three stages, bocce tournaments, and cultural activities for all ages from 14-17 August.
- PedalPGH is Pennsylvania’s largest one-day bike ride, inviting cyclists of all levels to explore Pittsburgh’s diverse neighborhoods and scenic routes. Starting and ending at Allegheny Commons Park on 24 August, the event offers multiple route options, rest stops, and a finish line festival.
