Amelia Island offers over 50 miles of suggested road biking routes, which include 23 miles of Spanish moss draped dedicated bike lanes. If you want to ride with the sound of the ocean waves in the background, Amelia Island invites you to pedal along its 13 miles of coastline for a true island experience.
Riding bikes around Amelia Island is such a fantastic way to see the island’s scenic beauty and varied landscapes. The trails really suit all kinds of riders, whether you prefer smooth, paved paths or a bit more rugged, off-road terrain. One favourite is the Amelia Island Trail, a nice, 6-mile paved route that runs from Amelia Island State Park down to Peterspoint Beachfront Park. You will find another great ride is the Timucuan Trail on Big Talbot Island. It’s a bit quieter and is pure nature, perfect for wildlife spotting, with marshlands and the amazing Boneyard Beach, fallen trees that look almost mystical. If you’re up for a bit more challenge, the Fort Clinch State Park Multi-Use Trail offers some rugged mountain biking options in the northern part of the island.
Bike rentals are easy to find; you can get everything from high-quality bikes to guided tours and maps. Many trails are part of the East Coast Greenway, so you’re riding on paths that stretch far beyond just the island, offering some of the best coastal scenery in Florida.
