Sunbeam returns to Daytona Beach
A racing legend returns to Daytona Beach one hundred years after making history on the sands of Daytona Beach. The Sunbeam 1000hp, nicknamed The Slug, is returning to where it became the first car to break the 200mph barrier on Daytona Beach on 29th March 1927, driven by Major Henry Seagrave.
Sunbeam, originally manufactured in the Sunbeam factory in Wolverhampton, will be on display at the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America between 16th January and 18th April 2027 and will perform a low-speed centennial run on Daytona Beach on 29th March 2027. The car will also be featured at the Spring Daytona Turkey Run from 26th to 28th March, 2027.
