Celebrating America’s 250th at the Indiana State Museum & Historic Sites
Throughout 2026, the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites will host special programmes, family events and presentations exploring the founding ideals of the United States and Indiana’s place in the nation’s history. Activities will take place at historic sites across the state, offering visitors a variety of ways to engage with America250.
Corydon Capitol State Historic Site
Indiana’s first state capital will play a central role in the celebrations. Visitors can see the original 1816 Indiana Constitution on display, attend readings of the Declaration of Independence and take part in special programmes exploring Indiana’s early history and path to statehood.
Levi and Catharine Coffin State Historic Site
Known as the “Grand Central Station of the Underground Railroad,” this important historic site will host special America250 programming that highlights Indiana’s role in the fight for freedom and human rights.
Indiana University Bloomington: America 250
Indiana University Bloomington will mark the anniversary with exhibitions, lectures and special events throughout the year. A highlight is The Motives, The Moment exhibition at the Lilly Library, featuring one of the few surviving first printings of the Declaration of Independence.
